Halloweekend Costumes!

Is your Halloween continuing into November this year? Do you have a few weekend parties to attend and you aren’t sure if you should dress up?

When Halloween falls on a weekday, the following weekend is often the perfect time to celebrate! We’d like to share some costume tips and tricks to keep the spooky spirit alive into November.

  1. Costume Focus

Let’s face it. Costumes aren’t cheap! Here are some shopping suggestions if you’re on a budget and trying to come up with a last-minute costume:

  • Value Village
  • Value Town Party Supplies
  • Dollar Stores
  • Local thrift shops
  • Walmart
  • Amazon Prime
  • Re-use your costume from last year! No shame here 🙂

If you know yourself well enough to know you aren’t interested in making your costume from scratch, (maybe you have tried in the past and it did not turn out as planned), you can always count on discount stores, used clothing, and thrift shops to find good options.

Making an afternoon of it can be fun too. Bring some friends or family, and have fun trying different costumes. Consider the environment you will be this weekend; dress warmly if you will be out in the cold for hours, and make sure to stay cool if you will be indoors!

We promise you can find amazing costumes for both environments, don’t be afraid to dabble and get out of your comfort zone this year when it comes to choosing a great costume.

2. Make-Up

If don’t have time to come up with a last-minute outfit, you can always focus on playing up your makeup! When I was younger I would lay out all my makeup and just try doing my makeup for whatever monster or Halloween creature I was interested in that year. Pinterest is a great place to look for Halloween makeup tutorials! You can follow along step-by-step, or use the tutorials as a reference for makeup ideas that you already have in mind.

If you feel like you aren’t sure that your makeup skills are up to the challenge, no worries! The makeup tutorials on Pinterest range from basic to advanced, whether it’s a simple cat nose and whiskers, or full-on tiger stripes with glitter! Have fun with it.

3. Create from Scratch.

If you’ve done the same Costumes on repeat for years now, and you don’t think another $80 dollar costume from Value Village will cut-it…you might have fun creating your own costume! Once again, the internet has some amazing choices. There are tons of creative people out there ready to share their ideas. Check out costume creations for some examples.

There are a few ways you can go about making your own costume:

  • If you have a sewing machine and an eye for detail, you can get totally crafty, buy fabric, and start from scratch
  • You can go thrift store scavenging and see what amazing pieces you can find to throw together
  • You can Mix and Match your crafts skills and any store findings to create the ultimate Halloweekend costume!

4. Just go for it and have fun. Simple.

We hope that you decide on simply having fun, regardless of what costume you wear. Halloween is the ultimate holiday to show off your creative side and have a blast when out with your friends.

Happy & Safe Halloweekend Friends!
